Our teachers are very enthusiastic and excited about doing their prac teaching at the Community Classes - it gives them an indication of what to expect when they fly out to their new destinations. Among some destinations that some of our teachers have departed for - Buenos Aires, Denmark, Taiwan, Korea, China and Japan.

Brisbane office

Hi everyone!

For those interested in attending our classes here's a photo of what our building looks like so you'll be a bit more familiar with it when heading down George Street (we're the building with the brown panels). We're also opposite 7-Eleven and there's a bus stop right outside our entance.

Hope to see you all soon.

Brisbane Co-ordinators

Hi my name is Amanda and I've been assisting in coordinating the Community Classes in Brisbane. It's been very interesting setting up this program and I'm really enjoying talking with the students and seeing them return each week. I love talking with the teachers and finding out where they're heading off to, why they're doing the course and why they've chosen their destinations. This experience is going to provide me with the skills I'll need when I move to China next year to teach English, so gaining an understanding of how the classes are run is fantastic. I'm looking forward to completing the Certificate III in the coming months and embarking on a new adventure in my life.

Hi my name is Erica and I've been assisting in coordinating the community classes in Brisbane. I love the potential of these classes as a community function that helps people not only develop their English language skills, but also make connections with new people and participate in a community-based activity. I hope the networks our students develop here will be invaluable to them and the classes will be a warm, friendly activity that everyone enjoys. Above all of course, I love seeing people improve their English - this development of communication skills can make innumerable changes in people's lives and I value immensely the work that our prac teachers do in giving our students this gift. One day soon I hope to offer students in Germany the same help, and the experience I gain here will help me to understand the teaching environment and the needs of my students.

Seasons Greetings!!

We would like to let our students know that we will be closing down for the Christmas period. Our last Community Class for 2007 will be on Wednesday the 5th of December and we will start again in January 2008.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of our 2007 students for their enthusiasm and friendly participation. We think everyone has enjoyed the classes and we look forward to seeing you all back again next year, as well as some new faces!
We've been offering these classes since May 2007 and we've appreciated all the feedback we have received from our students - we hope that the classes are really giving you what you want. Next year we hope to be able to offer a more advanced class in addition to the pre-intermediate classes currently on offer.

As always, we'd love to hear your suggestions and feedback, feel free to contact us at any time.

We wish you all a wonderful holiday season and look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Cheers
Amanda and Erica

Welcome to the Teach International 'Community English Classes'

Welcome to the Teach International Community English Class blog. We hope that you enjoy reading our posts and that you make the decision to enhance your English skills. Our classes are held in a comfortable learning environment, with roughly 6-8 people per class. We've found that this size class helps everyone to relax as you get to know the other students in the class and make friends with them.

Our classes are aimed for people who want to improve their verbal English, and the level of the classes are pre-intermediate to intermediate. Our students learn vocabulary and grammar and practice talking about common subjects for everyday living and other topics of interest.

Our teachers have recently completed their TESOL Certificate with Teach International and part of the requirement for completing the course is to undertake 'practical teaching'. This is the reason why we started up our Community English Classes. Our teachers love the opportunity to help our students with their English skills and every class involves quality instruction, interactive activites and one-on-one practice.

We will keep this site updated to include news, class reviews and other information. We'd love our students to stay in contact with us, so please tell us any suggestions you have or subjects you would like to cover in class.

New students are always welcome, so please email us at english@staff.teachinternational.com if you have any questions about our classes. We look forward to meeting you soon!
